THE GONSTEAD SYSTEM

Discs are pads between the vertebrae made of a spongy substance encased in cartilage. When a vertebra misaligns, it applies uneven pressure on the disc, causing it to swell and protrude, often referred to as a slipped, herniated, or ruptured disc. Chiropractors call this a SUBLUXATION, which can result in nerve compression and inflammation. This can lead to various ailments and pain.

Misaligned vertebrae, especially those in the upper spine, are typically easy to identify. However, misalignments in the lower spine are harder to detect. Correcting these misalignments is crucial in the Gonstead technique. If the lower spine has a misaligned vertebrae, the body compensates by misaligning a vertebra above to stay upright. If only the top misaligned vertebrae is adjusted, it can only provide limited relief. For comprehensive results, all misaligned vertebrae must be identified and corrected.
